Kaido's Identity

Have you ever wondered what Kaido truly is? And why does he want to end his life so badly? These are only a few questions we are going to answer with the current updates that jive with the fan theories which are very exciting to discuss.

Since we are discussing some theories that would unravel some future events in the series, I will warn you that there will be some spoilers that we will encounter in this content. So if you want to continue then feel free to read this and spice some things up.

The first question is why does Kaido want to end his life so badly? We could be creative to interpret his peculiar characteristics for some reason. All Yonko’s are broke like any ruler and all of them have a different disorder I think. First is Edward Newgate / Whitebeard is very protective of his sons and daughters, Shanks is a drunkard, Big Mom has an eating disorder, and Kaido is a depressed dragon. So for some reason, Kaido himself cannot put on his sleeves together and seeks to end his life as soon as he could get a chance. The best way for him to do it is to fight against Whitebeard, the strongest man on earth, or wage another war of the best.

Let us get back with his debut appearance on Chapter 795 and Episode 739. He attempted suicide by jumping from Sorajima, 10,000 feet above the ground, and fell directly to an island where Kid, Apoo, and Hawkins are having a meeting. Other than that he did countless attempts to end his life, to quote Urouge:

“The man was looking for a place to die. And if I were to tell you about him… he is a pirate that tasted defeat 7 times…and has been captured by the navy and his enemies over 18 times…!! A man that has lived through countless torture and was a fugitive on the run…Namo…Now, he attempts to take his own life..in a way that is still rather rare in his own world…suicide by jumping from Sorajima..and..now…let me tell you once more, a man that has been captured by all sorts 18 times and survived 10,000 kinds of torture having death sentence handed to him 40 times, but every time he was to be hung, the rope snapped on him. And even he is put under the guillotine, the blade mysteriously breaks to pieces.. Spears break when he is stabbed, and he has sunk at least 9 gigantic prison ships the whole time he was there. What I’m trying to say nobody… could kill this man and he himself finds it amusing to the point it’s a hobby”

The Mad Monk himself briefly described Kaido’s past life and indestructible body. After Whitebeard’s death, he is known to be the strongest pirate alive as the rumors say you cannot win against him one on one may it be on air, land, or sea. His toughness would seem to attribute to his experience as a pirate. He was a member of the infamous Rocks Pirate together with Whitebeard, Big Mom, Shiki, and other known notorious pirates known.

Now he is living his life to commit heinous crimes and war to end his life and the current alliance with Big Mom to conquer the world seems to be the biggest threat to the world government and will greatly affect the pirate era.

However, there are instigating questions about Kaido’s identity which intrigues me why Big Mom referred to him as “Thing” and is likely un-killable. I have a few speculations on how this “thing” would mean and put down some reasons to give us insight into Kaido’s identity.

1.       Kaido and Big Mom relationship. We all know, for goodness sake, that Kaido and Big Mom were crewmates in Rocks ship together with Whitebeard. Their feats together brought the infamous pirate to limelight until the God Valley incident. For some reason when Big Mom mentioned in Chapter 407 that Kaido has a life-long debt to Lin Lin it could be possible that she lend soul to him who made him un-killable which lead us to speculate what Kaido is. Remember when Big Mom referred him as a “thing”? This could mean that he is not from the human race. Make sense?

2.       Characteristics. For some reason, he’s too big to be considered as a human and his horns are so badass so I think referring him as a non-human race could be valid. He could see Big Mom face to face so he is one heck of a giant monster and could also lead why Big Mom has a liking to him. If we will try to read between the lines in Urouge’s “funeral speech” in Chapter 795 we could refer Kaido as a very tough monster like Big Mom. We could assume that he is also a fish-man like Jack. Kaido as a fish-man could also be valid, remember when he was described as a man who experienced lots of torture and was able to sink gigantic prison ships perhaps he was able to survive this because he could be a fish-man. 

3.       Yamato’s curses. In chapter 986, we learned that Kaido doesn’t have the compassion to his daughter Yamato because of the handcuff he gave to her to prevent her from running away until it was removed by Luffy. The handcuff caused a big explosion enough to kill someone and Yamato learned that his father wants to kill her. After that Yamato say’s “Damn it you Bull-Gorilla” this catch could lead us to assume what Kaido is of a different race. I don’t have any reference to a Bull-Gorilla fish man or in the previous chapters and episodes but we could refer that Kaido’s genes could be of this. He could be a Chimera.

Inferring to the above-mentioned assumptions we could say that Kaido is living to satisfy his hunger for violence, war, and carnage before he ends his life. In conclusion, he could be a fish-man or a Chimera-like being thus, explains his un-killable body just like Big Mom told us. Kidding aside, he could also have a Horcrux just like Voldemort.
