One Piece gets more exciting because of the mind-blowing twist with characters and events which we are all waiting every week for its new chapters. Since the big reveal of an undercover organization in Chapter 956, the “SWORD”, it keeps on bugging me on what would be its role in the series. SWORD is the secret faction in the Marines and its current objective is unkown¹. But we all know its current members were Koby and X-drake.

Its objective is not yet revealed to spur speculations on what would it be but I have a feeling that this organization will change the course of the event in the current arc perhaps in the succeeding. The conversation between Koby and X-drake in chapter 956 revolved around the current turmoil in Wano and the abolition of the warlord system. From this, we could deduce that this organization is well aware of what is happening in the new world.

The presence of this organization and its possible members would have a great impact on the World Government’s power to fight against crime. I believe that the existence of this organization lies with the belief and value of justice. Akainu, and others who believe in “absolute justice” seems to be the cause of giving SWORD to existence. The argument here could be the difference between “absolute justice” and “righteousness” with the former as the motto of the marines and the latter for SWORD.

With this, I tried to enlist and discuss some of the members and possible members of this organization based on the chapters and series and of course their ideals.

Koby could be a given member because of his ideal and aspiration. His courageous act during the paramount war could be the cause of why he was recruited in this organization.

X-Drake, given a fact that he is a former rear admiral in the marines and culture of undercover, is well known, see Vergo and Rosinante’s case, I think the one leading this strategically put him up to lead this group.

Sengoku we all know how he worked with Rosinante aka Corazon during chapter 764 until failed because of Vergo as a double agent. It could be possible that Sengoku himself establish this organization a long time ago.

Rosinante aka Corazon acts as a first undercover for the marines to eliminate Donquixote family. Too bad for his failure but he let Law live and eventually made Doffy pay.

Monkey D. Garp could also be a possible member because of his close ties with Sengoku. I also believe that his title as a Hero is not only in a nutshell but also righteous to fight what is right. Remember he teamed up with Roger to fight the Rocks pirate and he raised Ace as his own grandson which is not a simple task to do as a person who works in the World Government.

Tsuru could be the same as Garp because of her close connection to Sengoku and Garp himself.

Aokiji is currently missing and speculated that he joined Blackbeard pirates after his loss to Akainu but who knows his current objective? He might be working as an undercover.  

Fujitora / Issho could be a possible member of the SWORD because of his bold acts to take down the warlord system which could be a possible goal of this organization. And for all we know, he favored Luffy by allowing him to escape in Dressrosa arc which he believed that it would be righteous to do because Luffy is not a threat to humanity.

That’s it, we all know that the series will have more details to provide and will share with us some unexpected event that would turn the events upside down. The world of one piece is getting richer and richer because of its dynamic events and sudden plot twist let us share more of this and keep watching the series and reading the manga.
